Vladimir Petrović (MA 2005, PhD 2009, currently Senior Academic Researcher at the Centre for the Study of Europe, Boston University and Senior Researcher at the Institute for Contemporary History, Belgrade)

Although I hardly realized that at the time, sending the application to the CEU’s History Department was one of the most important decisions I ever made. Studying in Budapest, both during MA and PhD training, amounted to a transformative experience. It added a theoretically informed approach to a tradition of solid empirical research; it pushed me into comparative and multidisciplinary methodology; it provided a link between my studies and their application in real life. Most importantly, it generated a permanent sense of belonging to an intellectual community of almost incredible diversity.
